Other ships that carried us upon the cyber-seas

Were there similar websites at the launch of YouTube?? (asked on quora) Answer by Myster Ey Peter Appleseed Tasciotti, the journalism is my own.
Indeed there were other sites. Here are my credentials within a true documentary: Youtubia Broadcast Yourself Community (Video 2018)
Before YouTube gained popularity, there were a few existing sites. This is pre-2006. Atom films is the most major one. Bear in mind that prior to 2006, video-sharing and streaming were almost non-existent. Technology made it possible between 2005–2006 during the greatest fundamental advancements. The challenge was the grade of the copper wire, as no T1 lines existed, nor were there much fiber optics yet. The modems were slower and the bit rate was slower. What we take for granted today with USB 3.0 and high-speed broadband, back then was crawling at 56K and much less outside of major cities.
Around the same time of YouTube gaining users and traffic, there was Sharkle! They were more popular at the time, in 2005. How do I know? I operated some of the most popular channels on that site. I was also involved with developing a video contest within the Sharkle community. Unfortunately, the whole website shut down due to internal factors. It was sold off or something or other, kinda like what happened to Friendster.com and Featured Content on Myspace
Sharkle! wasvery similar to YouTube In addition to Sharkle, there was http://Revver.com and http://LiveVideo.com LiveVideo was the main alternative destination from 2006–2008. Then that website also shut down. How do I know? I operated several of the major channels on that website.
Around the same time, there was also Free video clips for your enjoyment which may be defunct, I’m not sure. Metacafe had some promising features in order to compete with YouTube.
The other main contender to Youtube was Stickam.com The interesting thing about that phase was it’s difference to YouTube. It was more of a live streaming platform. Unfortunately, Stickam also was shut down after a few short years.
The top competition to YouTube still exists and you may already know about them. They are very similar, although they got started a little later that these other ones I mentioned above. They are: What to Watch | Dailymotion and Vimeo: Watch, upload, and share HD and 4K videos with no ads
If I have missed any of your favorite sites for video-sharing, feel free to inform me. Thanks.

A fine line to walk between two competing industries

What is it like to be an artist who is busy promoting artistic expressions and a volume of creative material??
One has to learn a lot about the dangerous world of the arts and media and whatnot.   There is a fine line to walk between two competing industries.

What is the difference between the two mediums, the media of Movies and the media of Internet, the Interwebs??  IS there much of a difference?  Well it depends on how you look at it.  It can seem at one angle to be very similar.  Yet it can seem at another angle to be very different.

Let's go with the idea that they are different and somehow incompatible.  That is due to the fact that they are in competition.  There is money and earnings being shuffled form one to the other.  Obviously, Internet media is newer and they are gaining.  But some big money players are playing both sides now.  They've learned how to do that.

What is the position an artist should take?  Where does a creator position oneself??  Take a look at Myster Ey and you will learn the mysteries and the secrets of doing it best!!

Youtubia and the True story is about to be revealed

Some of us know.  Some of us were there.  We know what we wished it was about.  But it turned out to be naught.  Just another dead end dream.  It was merely a stepping stone. At best.  To what?
Were we chasing fame?  Alas, it is the lure of that carrot on a stick.

Youtubia was more than fame and your 15 minutes of it, as Andy Warhol sayeth.  Youtubia, or more properly UTUBIA was the experiences we gained. It was the connections.  It was the community, the camaraderie.  It was the friendships and trust.  The sharing and caring.  I know it sounds sappy.  But that's what real life is really about.

Youtubia was

Youtubia was the rock n roll of the youtube.com experience. Youtubia was the take-over by the rebels.  Youtubia was put down as a rebellion, first from within, then by the new owners, gootube.  Steve and Chad sold out the show.  Youtubia knew what was up, the real rebels at the start, before the corporate imperial stage.  It was the earliest stage that the most important events are experienced. Youtubia was the creation of the brand, the household name. Then it was commercialized, and we knew it, they know it, now the world knows it.  Watch the documentary to find out the truth.  Produced by the illustrious Myster Ey, well-known in the underground as the Shmovie Shmogul of internet tough guys.

PeterAppleseed remembers Utubia community

PeterAppleseed aka MysterEy1 movie mogul

PeterAppleseed remember Utubia community and the many members and good times we shared.  Circa 2005, 2006 all the way until 2014, 2015 until it faded away.  Why did it fade? Why did it end?  A major part of the reason, the blame, is directly in the covert actions of yootoob and guugool (sp? intentionally You know who I mean?)  That corporate monstropolis is responsible for subverting and supressing our natural interactions online.  They purposely squashed the vibrant community. ohhhh wellllllll. We could not defend our rights.
Here's to the memories of what we had...  It was real.  More real, back then...
